Lucky
I wasn't sure if I wanted to blog about my recent misfortune, but it is a part of our family's life and I thought maybe someone searching the internet with these symptoms will read my post and go to the ER. Here we go: Last Thursday I was running on the treadmill while the twins were at preschool and Morgan was napping (she is on camera). I was watching the TV while I ran, and I have to turn my head to the left (not a ton) to see the TV. About 15 min into my run, I started to have a bad pain in the left side of my neck. So, I thought I was holding my head weird and turned the tv off. But the pain became so bad I had to stop running. Then I got a very bad headache, and my central vision was blurred with flashing lights. I thought I had a migraine, took some advil, and laid down. After about 30 min the spots went away, the headache pain was less, and my neck was super sore. I went about my day. I told my dad that night about what happened, and he wanted me to go to the ER (I refused). Then the next few days, the headache was gone, but my neck was super sore. Sunday night, the headache returned and I saw spots again. Tyler got me some advil and I went back to sleep. The next day I still had a headache, felt terrible, and my neck was worse. I went to work and told my dad what was going on. He sent me to the ER, and I had a vertebral artery dissection. Thankfully, no stroke had occured. I spent 3 days in the hospital, and am now home on blood thinners, recovering. I am so thankful that this turned out the way it did. There is definitely an angel on my shoulder keeping me safe. Lesson learned for sure. I am so happy to be home with my family. It is absolute torture to be taken away from my children and stuck in a room by myself for days. I am on the road to recovery and very thankful!
